Love Tutoring Festival: Support for Reading, with Jack Churchill and Julia Clouter

Jack Churchill is the CEO and Co-Founder of assistive technology supplier, Scanning Pens, who provide a range of scanning pens to support independent reading.

Jack is an incredibly inspiring man. I first met him when he was demonstrating Scanning Pens on a neurodiversity webinar earlier this year.  The product, a reader pen, really impressed me, as did Jack with his easy-going nature and, being dyslexic himself, his passion to make a difference to those with dyslexia in reaching their potential and increasing their confidence.

In 2003 Jack, with his university friend Toby Sutton, and with a shared interest in technology, decided to launch Scanning Pens. As a now global business, Scanning Pens has progressed greatly, and a real landmark for them was in 2013 when the JCQ exam board allowed the use of scanning pens in exams in the UK.

Recognition for their hard work and success has been shown by receiving numerous industry awards in technology, business and education.

Jack, Julia Clouter (SENCo and Education Adviser) and the rest of the team have also created a fantastic information resource called Succeed With Dyslexia, which is a global movement to help promote positivity and awareness around learning and reading difficulties. With campaigns such as Go Red For Dyslexia and D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read), it is definitely worth checking out.

Jack also sits on the boards of BATA (The British Assistive Technology Association), St Mary’s Calne School and the International Churchill Society.

Jack and Julia will be speaking at 3pm BST on Monday 28th June at the Festival. Not an event to miss … (grab your ticket to this free event by visiting qualifiedtutor.org/lovetutoringfestival and registering today).
