More on the Power of Tutoring

Bloom’s 2 Sigma problem shows that tutoring is 2-standard deviations more effective than  conventional classroom learning.

Look at the overlap between the purple bell-curve and the orange bell-curve. His study showed that the lowest-attaining students in the tutored-group achieved in the what only the top students managed in a mainstream classroom. As I’ve noted before. That means our students are far more capable than we see in school.

More students would be achieving brilliantly, if more students had access to tutoring. It’s not fair – but it’s not a blame game. It’s a time of change. Schools are our partners. As are parents. And we’re all here to create a better educational experience for students.
